Drama Club

Drama Club

The mission of our Drama Club is to enrich the aesthetic sensibilities and promote the cultural diversity of our students through the highest quality of education and training in the Performing Arts; ideally in the areas of movement, poetry and drama.

After several years of inactivity the Drama Club at Holy Childhood High school was re-launched and restarted in September 2007 under the tutelage and guidance of the present faculty advisor Mr. E. Harris drama teacher.

Club meetings include training in elocution/speech as well as participation in the following culture forms: ring games; dances such as kumina and revival; Comedy Days for watching comedy videos and Movie Days (for viewing movies on Jamaican heritage and culture).

Our Club’s activities also include exciting field trips to the Edna Manley School for the Performing Arts (to watch productions), the African Arts Museum, the National Gallery, the Bob Marley Museum, and the Creative Arts Centre at the University of the West Indies. We have also participated in outreach ministry to the children at Mary’s Home. Residents were feted with gifts and performances by Club members.

At school, we minister at First Friday Masses through short productions based on Scripture passages; and produce concerts for Child’s Day, Christmas and Summer School.
