PET Club

OUR MISSION:        “To make this world a safer and better place for animals.”

Are you a student who has a great love for animals? Do you have a strong desire for helping them? Then this is the Club for you!!!

History: The Pet Club was started in 2013 by a former Holy Childhood Sixth Form student - Jervis Crawford. Jervis aspires to be a Veterinarian, because of her love for animals and a strong desire to protect them. This passion led her to start this Club.

Aims:  To educate students about different animals - how to treat and take care of them; and to lead them to understand why animals are important to our environment. We also aim to guide students who want to be veterinarians or animal researchers in the right direction. This we do by providing them with useful information and exciting experiences through:

Field Trips to:

  • The Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA)
  • The Hope Zoo (Kingston)
  • The Zoo (St. Elizabeth)

  1. Guest Speakers - veterinarians
  2. Pamphlets & Flyers
  3. Movies
  4. Documentaries
  5. National Geographic Magazines
  6. Videos

The PET Club meets on Mondays
Time:              2:30 pm – 3:30 pm
Venue:           10-4 Classroom

Future Plans:

  • To create a Bird Sanctuary for our school
  • To launch and host a Pet Day to educate students outside of this Club (This would become an annual calendar event).
