Red Cross Society

MOTTO: "Serve One Another"

PLEDGE: I, ... as a youth member of the Red Cross Society, promise to serve God and country and to join with others all over the world to give friendship and service to all mankind.

The Red Cross is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, with 187 National Societies. Red Cross was founded by Jean Henry Dunant with the intention to protect human life and health, to ensure respect for all human beings, and to prevent and alleviate human suffering. Our work is always done with the purpose of helping those most vulnerable in any situation.

Red Cross has been serving Jamaican citizens since 1948. We are guided by our Motto which requires that we “Serve One Another,” and as such we willingly volunteer our services when needed. As Red Cross members we make no discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. We do not take sides in hostilities or engage at any time in controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature.

The Society was officially introduced to our School in 1996 and is led by Ms L. McFarlane. The Red Cross Society, with the continuous support and assistance of Ms. McFarlane, Mrs. M. Guthrie and Mr. C. Douglas has helped to mould Holy Childhood students into well rounded individuals and future nation builders.

The Red Cross Society provides a platform for the exchange of information and the sharing of experiences, allowing students to learn new things outside classroom. It is a fun, interactive and safe environment for students. Members of our Society are taught important and essential life skills including Drill, First Aid and Culinary Techniques.

The Holy Childhood Red Cross Society has competed in and won several awards; contributing to our School’s brand. Helping others is always worthwhile and members of the Red Cross Society are dedicated to serving one another.
